Luxury Hotel Cumbria

The Lake District is in Cumbria, is situated in the north-west of England. It is known for its beautiful scenery and lakes and is the largest National Park in the United Kingdom (over 880 square miles). It has England’s longest Lake (Windemere), England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike) and the deepest lake in England (Wastwater).

When visiting the lake district there are many hotels to chose from, but many people visiting this special place, opt for one of the luxury hotels in Cumbria and for good reason. There are many luxury hotels lake district, it all depends on where you would like to stay.

Windermere is considered the hub town of the area, with many hotels and restaurants. Windermere is way to busy for me, but it’s a great place to visit, with the excellent Beatrix Potter museum in Bowness, which appeals to young and old alike, great gift shops and of course the famous passenger boat trips.

Three miles north lies the beautiful Ambleside, with it’s quaint side roads, alleys and country cottages, Ambleside is a smaller version of Windermere, but unlike Windermere, Ambleside has managed to keep it’s ‘old England’ style and character and still manage thousands of visitors every year.

With the luxury hotel Cumbria scene being on everybody’s mind who wishes to visit the lakes, you have to book early to secure the 5 star hotels in Cumbria.

The hotels in Grasmere Cumbria, are steeped in history and character, that is why, when looking for luxury hotels in Cumbria, Grasmere should be top of the list, you will not be disappointed.

Keswick is further north again and I have only stayed at hotels in keswick Cumbria, when Grasmere or Ambleside hotels have been fully booked. Saying that, Keswick is a beautiful town and has some of the best hotels in Cumbria.

So when looking to book a holiday in the Lakes, my first choice would be Grasmere, second would be Ambleside and third would be Bowness-On-Windermere for my luxury hotel lake district.

Wherever you stay in the Lake District, it’s sure to be a holiday you’ll remember for a very long time!
